Stockholm: In Stockholm a new Eritrean Orthodox church has been consecrated in the name of Saint Abune Aregawi. This church is loyal to the legitimate patriarch Abune Antonious. The celebration was held on Saturday and Sunday 25 and 26 October, with the participation of Priests, Deacons and faithful from different cities of Sweden. About 250 people participated along with Swedish citizens.

The program began on Saturday afternoon with special Doxology(wazema) in Ge’ez and continued the whole night. On Sunday morning Eucharist was celebrated. Later the participants remembered detained Patrairch His Holiness Abune Antonios in their prayers. Traditional Eritrean cuisine were served towards the end of the programme. In Sweden there are about six churches under the loyalty of H.H Abune Antonious under the guidance of His Grace Anba Abakir the bishop of Coptic orthodox churches in Scandinavian countries.
