The mediation of Patriarch of Moscow and All Rus Kirill I in returning the body of the Azerbaijani saboteur, killed in NKR-Azerbaijani line of contact, is in process, His Grace Bishop Arshak Khachatrian of Holy See of Etchmiadzin told the reporters on October 5.
Karekin II informed Kirill I the Armenian side was always benevolent, whereas the Azerbaijani side has not returned six Armenian war prisoners, he said.
“The fact, the Azerbaijani authorities awarded (posthumously) the title of a national hero of Azerbaijan to the soldier claiming lives of 5 Armenian servicemen, without returning his body, proves belligerence dominates in Azerbaijan,” Bishop Khachatrian stressed.
As NEWS.am reported previously, in early September, Patriarch of Moscow and All Rus Kirill I conveyed Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II the request of Chairman of the Caucasian Muslims Office Allahshukur Hummat Pashazade to intercede the Armenian authorities for the return of the body of Azerbaijani soldier Mubariz Ibarahimov to the Azerbaijani side. The soldier was killed in an Azerbaijani act of sabotage in Verin Chaylu positions, on June 19.
