Kyiv- Ukraine: The faithful of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church has demanded a personal meeting with Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople, during his visit to Ukraine. They intend to explain the real church situation in Ukraine. An official letter was sent for the same to Ecumenical Patriarch from “Miryane” NGO.

“If Patriarch Bartholomew arrives in Ukraine, we demand a meeting with him on the 21st of August 21 at 9.00 near the Verkhovna Rada, where his meeting with D. Razumkov (Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada) will take place,” stated the Miryane NGO authorities. They have also urged believers from all dioceses of the UOC to come to the capital and take part in the prayer stand.

In July 2021, Metropolitan Anthony of Borispol and Brovary, the Chancellor of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate), stated that there would be no representatives of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church at events attended by Patriarch Bartholomew.
