His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II received their Excellencies Ministers Mr. Nicolas Sahnaoui and Gaby Layyoun, accompanied by Mrs. May Khresh and Gaby Gebrayel, at the Patriarchal Residence in Atchaneh.
The meeting was attended by their Eminences Mor Nicodemus Daoud Sharaf, Archbishop of Mosul, Kurdistan and Environs, Mor Timotheos Matthew, Patriarchal Secretary for Indian Affairs and Very Rev. Raban Joseph Bali, Patriarchal Secretary and Media Office Director.
His Excellency discussed the situation of Christians in the Middle East and the impact of emigration on the Christian presence in the cradle of Christianity.
His Holiness urged the politicians to elect a president in Lebanon and reminded them of the demand to establish a parliamentarian seat for the Syriac Orthodox in Lebanon.
His Excellency spoke about the efforts to preserve equal citizenship in Lebanon, especially the challenges to keep the balance of all the components of the Lebanese society.
