Metropolitan Filaret presents church awards to Athos monks

MINSK, 20 November (BelTA) – Metropolitan of Minsk and Slutsk Filaret, Patriarchal Exarch of All Belarus, received a delegation of the Athos monastery Hilandar headed by the Abbot of the Monastery, Archimandrite Methodius, BelTA learnt from the Belarusian Exarchate.
“His Eminence Metropolitan Filaret had a conversation with the guests. Metropolitan Filaret awarded the church honors on the guests in recognition of the work for the good of the Church, blessed them for the travel across the eparchies of the Belarusian Orthodox Church and communion with the clergy, monastics and laypeople,” the exarchate said.
The Athos monks arrived in Belarus on a five-day visit at the invitation of the Patriarchal Exarch. The delegation includes another three monks of the monastery of communion. They plan to visit the Holy Annunciation Monastery in the village of Lyady, Saint Euphrosyne convent in Polotsk, the Berezinsky Biosphere Reserve, and the memorial Khatyn. The delegation will present the Icon of the Mother of God “Nursing the Child” to the Minsk parish “Joy of All Who Sorrow” and the Icon of the Mother of God “Of Three hands” to the Minsk church in honor of the Optina Elders.
