Members of the International Women’s Association of Yerevan Visit the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin

On April 4, in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, welcomed Mrs. Myrna Mugrditchian – Techler, President of the International Women’s Association of Yerevan (IWAY) and the members of IWAY. Present at the meeting were also His Grace Bishop Bagrat Galstanyan, Director of the Office of Ecclesiastical Issues of the Mother See; and His Grace Bishop Hovakim Manoukian, Primate of the Artik Diocese and Director of the Inter-Church Relations Department of the Mother See.

Mrs. Myrna Mugrditchian – Techler introduced the IWAY members to the Catholicos of All Armenians, also presenting the projects of the association and the various charitable programs being implemented in several Armenian regions.

Welcoming the visit of the IWAY members to the Mother See, His Holiness Karekin II offered his congratulations on the occasion of the upcoming feast of the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary. The Catholicos of All Armenians noted that the message of this feast – of honoring and appreciating the role of women, was a reflection of the distinguished and noble perception that the Armenian people have towards motherhood. Reflecting on the important role and mission of Armenian women in the lives of Armenians, His Holiness noted that first and foremost public life is forged by women, as the future of any nation depends on the upbringing of children.

During the meeting His Holiness Karekin II urged the IWAY members to bring their active participation and benefit to the mission of the Church through women’s associations working with the Armenian churches, and unite the children of Armenia around the spiritual values and the ancestors’ faith. The Catholicos of All Armenians expressed his appreciation for the efforts and endeavors of the International Women’s Association, wishing success to the God- pleasing mission of the association.
