Looted Maqdala Artefacts Returned to Ethiopia

OCP News Service – 22/9/21

London-UK: The Maqdala Artefacts looted by the British during the Battle of Magdala (1868) has been retuned to Ethiopia. These artefacts were purchased by Tahir Shah via the Scheherazade Foundation to return them to Ethiopia. The artifacts were handed over to the Ethiopian ambassador Ambassador Teferi Melesse Desta on the 8th of September 2021. Religious text, crosses, Imperial shield, beakers, icon, magical scroll were among the retuned items. The item will reach Ethiopia in few weeks.

Attempts are also made for the return 9 tabots that were looted by the British soldiers during the Expedition to Abyssinia/Battel of Magdala (1868).
