Litiya celebrated at the tomb of the last Consul General of Russia in Beirut

On February 10, the Diplomats’ Day, the Mayor’s office in Choueifat, a suburb southeast of Beirut, held a festive meeting.

Attending the meeting were hegumen Arseniy (Sokolov), representative of the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia to the Patriarch of the Great Antioch and All the East; H. E. Alexander Zasypkin, Ambassador of Russia to Lebanon; staff members of the Embassy of the Russian Federation and of other states; members of the Lebanese Parliament; religious and public figures.

After the meeting, all participants proceeded to the local Orthodox cemetery where Alexei F. Kruglov (1864-1948), the last Consul General of the Russian Empire to Beirut, is buried.

Wreaths were laid at the tomb, and hegumen Arseniy celebrated memorial litiya, website of the Representation of the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia to the Patriarch of the Great Antioch and All the East reports.
