Lecture Series on “Artsakh Cultural and Spiritual Heritage Protection”

The Armenian Cultural and Spiritual heritage sites of Artsakh currently under Azerbaijani occupation are at risk of total annihilation.

A short look at the numbers shows the cultural importance of these locations to Armenia. In the region, there are an estimated 4,000 Armenian sites, including 370 churches, 119 fortresses among countless other historical and cultural monuments in Nagorno-Karabakh.

Under the ceasefire agreement, there is a growing number of these sites under Azerbaijani control. There are at least 82 such churches and also the important archaeological site of Tigranakert which dates back as far as the 1st century B.C.

We want to improve the situation through awareness and these presentations can demonstrate the beauty and importance of the sites to all.
