The Knesset plenum approved a motion to discuss recognition of the Armenian Genocide.

The motion was submitted by Meretz chairwoman MK Tamar Zandberg and supported by MK Itzik Shmuli from the Zionist Union, and accepted by 16 votes without opposition.

Knesset speaker Yoel Edelstein advocated recognition of the Armenian Genocide.
