International Festival “Hajnówka’s Orthodox Church Music

The International Festival “Hajnówka’s Orthodox Church Music Days” has taken place in Poland

From 9th to 15th May Orthodox Christians in Poland had an opportunity to listen to many beautiful performances of Orthodox church music. It has been the 29th time when various choirs from all over the world sang religious pieces of work in the Holy Trinity church in Hajnówka.

The Inauguration of the Festival is always held with the performance of the last winner. Last year it was the choir from Grodno in Belarus.

11th May was the first day of audition of the choirs, which were:

1. Choir of the parish of St Nicholas in Białowieża (Poland)
2. Choir of the parish of St Dimitriy in Hajnówka (Poland)
3. Choir of the parish of the Birth of St. John the Forerunner in Hajnówka (Poland)
4. Choir of the parish of the dormition of St Mary in Bielsk Podlaski (Poland)
5. Church Choir “Sotiria” from Gorzów Wielkopolski (Poland)
6. Choir „Zaranochka” of St Jacob Alfeus in Łosinka (Poland)
7. Female Choir of the Monastery of St Gegard in Erevan (Armenia)

During the second day of the auditions the following choirs sang:

1. Teachers’ Choir “Colours” from Rivne (Ukraine)
2. Choir of the parish of the Nativity of St Mary in Bielsk Podlaski (Poland)
3. Youth Choir of the parish of the Christ’s Resurrection in Białystok (Poland)
4. Byzantine Choir of St Demetrios from Budapest (Hungary)
5.The Cathedral Choir of the Holy Trinity church from Hajnówka (Poland)
6. Children and Youth Choir “Melody” from Orsha (Belarus)
7. University Choir “Byzantium” from Jassy (Romania)

The third day was the day of audition of the following choirs:

1. Choir of the Faculty of Orthodox Theology of the University in Preshov (Slovakia)
2. Choir “Renaissance” of the University of Architecture and Construction from Kiev (Ukraine)
3. Choir of St Cyril and Methody’s Orthodox Seminary from Plovdiv (Bulgaria)
4.Children and Youth Choir of the Transfiguration Cathedral from Vinnytsia (Ukraine)
5.Girls’ Choir of Children Orthodox Music School of dormition of St Mary’s Church in Krasnogorsk (Russia)
6.Choir of Christ’s Resurrection Cathedral in Brest (Belarus)
7. Choir “Volhynia’s Bells” from Lutsk (Ukraine)
8. Male Choir of State Song and Dance Company of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus from Minsk (Belarus)

During the last day of auditions the audience could listen to the following choirs:

1. Schola Cantorum Misericordis Christi from Biała Podlaska (Poland)
2. Choir “Philokalia” from Prague (Czech Republic)
3. Diocese Choir “St Sophrony Bishop of Vraca” from Vraca (Bulgaria)
4. Chamber Choir ”Vesperascit” from Warsaw (Poland)
5. Mixed Choir “Hadži Ruvim” from Valjevo (Serbia)
6. Academic Choir “Bel Canto” of the University of Computer Science and Economics from Olsztyn (Poland)
7. Chamber Choir of Pedagogic University from Voronezh (Russia)
