International Ecumenical Conference of Orthodox Spirituality Held in Italy

On 07 September, the 24th International Ecumenical Conference of Orthodox Spirituality was convened in the Monastery of Bose in Biella, Italy. The Conference theme is Martyrdom and Communion, dedicated to Christian martyrdom and witness at the current century. The main purpose of the Conference is to deepen the knowledge of the Orthodox Spiritual traditions. The conference will be held through 10 September.

This year, with the blessings of His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians; His Eminence Archbishop Nathan Hovhannisyan, Director of the External Relations and Protocol Department; and Very Rev. Fr. Shahe Ananyan, Director of the Ecumenical Relations, and Publishing Department of the Mother See; will represent the Armenian Church at the conference.

During the conference Fr Shahe will make a presentation on Martyrs as Witnesses of Communion in the Armenian Church:  Holy Martyrs of Genocide and Soviet Regime in the twentieth century Armenia; in which he will discuss the Canonization of the martyrs of the Armenian Genocide, and how it has changed and maintains to change the concept of martyrdom and Christian witness within Christian Armenian conscience.
