OCP News Service – 24/1/19

Malankara-Kerala-India: Senior most priest and oldest hermit of the Orthodox Syrian Church of the East, Monk-Priest Very. Rev. Aphrem Ramban (101) bid farewell to his earthly life. He was part of the St. Kuriakose Monastery of Mylapra (Pathanamthitta, Kerala, India). Very. Rev. Aphrem Ramban was an ideal monk who lived in two centuries (20th and 21st centuries). An advocate of Orthodoxy and monasticism, he was also a moral teacher. In secular education, he was a role model, a real “Guru” (Teacher).

He was a real devotee and follower of the great forefathers of the Malankara  Church. In a word, we can define him as a noble hermit and spiritual father. His humility, caring attitude and love attracted many to “His Master, the Shepard”. We pledge his intercession for everyone. He will be laid to rest with his predecessor at Mylapra Orthodox Monastery on Sunday 27th January 2019.
