Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church appoint a new administrator of the Moscow Patriarchate’s dioceses in Western Europe

On 24 December 2010, the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church held in Moscow under chairmanship of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia, considered the matter of the Korsun diocese that unites parishes of the Moscow Patriarchate in France, Spain, Switzerland, and Portugal.

Archbishop Innokentiy of Korsun, who has headed the diocese since 1999, was appointed Archbishop of Vilnius and Lithuania to replace the retired Metropolitan Chrysostom (Minutes 119). The Synod thanked Archbishop Innokentiy for his pastoral care for the parishes of the Russian Orthodox Church in the countries of Western Europe.

Bishop Nestor of Caffa, a vicar of the Korsun diocese, was appointed Bishop of Korsun and charged with archpastoral care for the parishes of the Russian Orthodox Church in Italy.
