‘Holding of Martyrs’ Bodies Violates the Principles of Christianity and International Law’ – Gaza’s Orthodox Priest

Gaza Strip-Palestine: “The holding of martyrs’ bodies violates the principles of Christianity and international law, and it is a crime practiced by the occupation against the Palestinian people and the martyrs’ families stated Father Elias Awad, reports Middleeastmonitor. He is the representative of the Orthodox Church to the conference on Israel’s detention of the martyrs’ bodies. Father Elias Awad is the pastor of the historic Church of Saint Porphyrius located in the Zaytun Quarter of the Old Cityin Gaza. It is also the oldest active church in the city.
Christian Muslim and Samaritan clergy who took part in the conference urged the international community to pressure Israeli government to release the bodies of Arabs and Palestinians held by the Jewish authorities.
The conference was organized by the National Committee for International Humanitarian Law of the the Ministry of Justice.
