HIS BEATITUDE PATRIARCH DANIEL WILL PAY A CANONICAL VISIT TO THE METROPOLITAN SEE OF MOLDOVA AND BUCOVINA

From 13 – 17 October 2010, His Beatitude Daniel, Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church will pay a canonical visit to the Metropolitan See of Moldova and Bucovina, at the invitation of His Eminence Metropolitan Teofan.

The main moment of the visit will be the participation of the Patriarch of Romania in the feast of Pious Parascheva, whose relics are kept in the metropolitan cathedral of Iaşi city.

Thursday, 14 October 2010, 9.15 hours, on the occasion of the feast of Pious Parascheva, His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel will celebrate The Divine Liturgy, assisted by a group of hierarchs, priests and deacons, on a scene specially arranged in front of the Metropolitan Cathedral.

Friday, 15 October 2010, 10.00 hours, the festivity occasioned by the awarding of the title of Doctor Honoris Causa to His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel by the Alexandru Ioan Cuza University of Iaşi will take place in the Mihai Eminescu rotunda of the same University.

Saturday, 16 October 2010, 10.00 o’clock, His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel will celebrate a remembrance service for hieromonk Paisie Olaru at his grave in the cemetery of Sihăstria Monastery on the occasion of the anniversary of 20 years since his passing away. Rev. Paisie Olaru was one of the best known and most appreciated father confessors of Sihăstria Monastery, where His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel took the monastic vows in 1987.

Sunday, 17 October 2010, 8.45 hours, the Patriarch of Romania will celebrate the re-consecration service of the church monastery of Golia and the Divine Liturgy, assisted by a group of hierarchs, priests and deacons.

In the afternoon, His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel will visit Providenţa Hospital of the Metropolitan See of Moldova and Bucovina, and will consecrate the place where the church dedicated to Saint Maxim the Confessor and to Saint Gregory Palama in the Munteni-Copou district will be built, and the painting of the chapel of Saint Basil the Great Theological Seminary of Iaşi city.
