On July 9, on the holiday the First Hierarch celebrated the Divine Liturgy in concelebration of the host of hierarchs of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in the open air – in the square in front of the Holy Dormition Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra.
Also praying at the service was representative of the Patriarchate of Constantinople Bishop Athenagoras of Sinope. At the divine service the Primate prayed for the repose of the presently reposed hierarchs, who performed episcopal consecration of His Beatitude Volodymyr.
At the end of the Liturgy His Grace Athenagoras greeted Metropolitan Volodymyr on the anniversary of his episcopal consecration and reported the greetings of Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople.
