His Beatitude Metropolitan Volodymyr consecrated St Olga’s Church in Kyiv

On February 24 the Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church His Beatitude Metropolitan Volodymyr of Kyiv and All Ukraine performed the rite of consecration of St Olga’s Church in Kyiv (Verbytskogo str , 3-г).

Concelebrating to His Beatitude were: Secretary for the Primate of the UOC archbishop Alexander of Pereyaslav-Khmelnytskyy, Secretary of the Kyiv Metropolis archpriest Vitaly Kosovskyy, the clergymen of Kyiv.

A the end of the worship service Metropolitan Volodymyr greeted the parishioners and clergymen on the solemn event and marked with the church distinctions the sponsors and donators and all those participating in the construction of the church.

“The task of our whole Christian life is fulfilled in a church of God, there we comprehend God, communicate with Him, get united with Him in the most close way in sacrament of Eucharist, which reminds us sinners where we are to search the way leading us to God. The Lord unceasingly calls us to Him, in order to instruct us already in this life and give a possibility to deserve the life of the future age, the worthy and pious one, which will be the triumph of truth and eternal joy” said the Primate.

Among those awarded there was the church rector archpriest Vsevolod Rybchynskyy. Who was conferred on with the Order of the Holy and Equal-to-the-Apostles Prince Vladimir.

Note that on June 30 2010 His Beatitude Volodymyr sanctified five crosses of the recently consecrated church.

To the point. St.Olga’s parish exists since 1994. The first worship services were conducted outdoor in front of the municipal housing committee office, where the assembly hall was rented for worship. In 1997 the construction of the church of the Holy and Right believing prince Vsevolod-Gabriel began, which was consecrated on December 10 1998 by His Beatitude Metropolitan Volodymyr of Kyiv and All Ukraine. The construction of the brick-built church dedicated to the Holy and Equal-to-the-Apostles Princess Olga was started 6 years ago. The remaining works on the interior painting are planned for the autumn of this year. Also the construction of a bell-tower is planned. Note that the church complex includes, apart from the Church of St Olga, the church of Prince Vsevolod-Gabriel, the church of the Holy and Equal-to-the-Apostles Constantine and Helena and the Holy Great Martyr Barbara, economy and administration offices, a Sunday school, a prosphora bake house, a hotel for pilgrims and a gym.
