Hellenism in Vienna Honors the Late Metropolitan Michael of Austria

Many Greeks in Central Europe attended the requiem Liturgy being held in honor of the late Greek Orthodox Metropolitan of Austria-Exarch of Hungary and Central Europe Michael at Hagia Triada Church in the Greek historical area in Vienna.

Representatives of the Ecumenical Patriarchate were also present at the requiem Liturgy, as well as representatives of Austrian authorities and many worshippers.

During a speech, His Eminence Metropolitan Arsenios, who succeeded the late Metropolitan Michael, praised the humanitarian work of the Metropolitan Michael.

Metropolitan Michael of Austria and Exarch of Hungary and Mid-Europe passed away on the 18th of October at the age of 65 after losing the fight against cancer.

Metropolitan Arsenios (Kardamakis) succeeded Metropolitan Michael of Austria. Bishop elect Arsenios (Kardamakis) served on the Church and Society Commission of the Conference of European Churches (CEC).
