Gevorkian Theological Seminary 2014-2015 Academic Year Closing Ceremony at the Mother See

On 20th July, the 2014-2015 academic year closing ceremony of the Gevorkian Theological Seminary was held in the Events Auditorium, under the presidency of His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians.

Following the Lord’s Prayer and the singing of the Gevorkian Theological Seminary hymn, His Grace Bishop Gevorg Saroyan, Head of the Educational Institutions of the Mother See and Dean of the Gevorkian Theological Seminary, summed up the 2014-2015 academic year, noting the important achievements that have taken place in the educational institutions of the Mother See.

In his remarks, Bishop Gevorg reflected on the Seminary’s preaching and cultural, social-scientific and pedagogical activities during the past year; the cooperation of various spiritual institutions and seminaries, and as well as the Intercollegiate activities; literary publishing researches and the successes achieved in the “Sermantsan” series.

Expressing gratitude to the Catholicos of All Armenians for the fatherly care towards the Seminary, he said: “Under this light, the Gevorkian Theological Seminary should be the fortress and the bright lighthouse, which will keep pure the centuries-old traditions of Armenian Studies”.

The seminarians offered recitations, and then the choir, under the leadership of the RA Distinguished Artist Ruben Asatryan, performed spiritual and national songs.
The event concluded with the remarks of His Eminence Archbishop Tatev Sarkisyan. His Eminence conveyed the blessings of His Holiness to the attendees and expressed appreciation to the spiritual and secular representatives of the administrative and teaching staff of the Seminary, for their efforts and the work implemented during the past year. Archbishop Tatev spoke about the brilliant character and prominent intellect of Armenians who studied in the seminary, and urged the seminarians to continue their studies in the same way.

Addressing the 26 graduate deacons of the seminary, Archbishop Tatev reflected on the character of a dedicated priest and wished that they generously distribute the God-given graces to people during their mission.

The ceremony was closed with the “Protector” prayer and Pontifical blessings.
