MILDMAY WARD, London: The Lausanne-Orthodox Initiative (LOI) is holding a meeting with delegates from Ethiopia attending the 2017 LOI Consultation in Cambridge which will bring together senior leaders from Orthodox and evangelical churches around the world. They will reflect on the formation and training of leaders for the respective Christian traditions.

The consultation will continue on the important discussions which began in Addis Ababa in 2016, hear reports from the 2017 Cambridge consultation and provide an opportunity to meet with senior church leaders who are visiting from Ethiopia. The meeting will also bring together 10 participants from the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church Patriarchate (EOTC), 10 from Ethiopian evangelical churches and 10 visitors from the Cambridge consultation including board members of LOI.
Fr Dr. Jossi Jacob, a professor at Holy Trinity Seminary, Addis Ababa, belonging to the Indian Orthodox Malankara Church, will be the representative of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church from Ethiopia along with Abba Kaletsadike Mulugeta Argaw (Patriarchate, Addis Ababa), and Dr. Tesfay Hadera (St Frumentius College).
The four other representatives of evangelicals from Ethiopia include Dr. Bruk Asale (Mekane Yesus Seminary), Mr. Tekle Belachew Nigru, Mrs. Sofanit Abebe (EGST postgraduate student) and Dr. Afework Hailu.

HG Bishop Angaelos from the Coptic Church, UK and Co-Chair of the Lausanne-Orthodox Initiative along with Pastor Girma Bishaw from the Evangelical Fellowship Church, London, are the hosts.

Representatives of the LOI will include Dr. Tim Grass as LOI Facilitator who will report on LOI Cambridge Consultation, Dr. Ralph Lee from Cambridge University, Dr. Danut Manastireanu from Romania and Dr. Tim Teusinik
10 representatives of the EOTC in London from the parishes of St Gebriel, Bere Genet Holy Trinity and St Mary of Zion, and Belete Merid along with 10 representatives of Ethiopian evangelical churches in London including Dr. Yoseph Mengistu will take part.

The 2016 LOI consultation was held in Addis Ababa at the invitation of His Holiness Patriarch Matthias I and Evangelical Church leaders with a focus on ‘Witness, peace and Unity’.

The primary objective of LIO, which was established in 2011, is to provide an opportunity for mutual understanding between Orthodox and evangelical leaders, bring about healing and create a fellowship of trust amidst respect and support among each other in the respective participation in the Mission of God.
Canon Mark Oxbrow from the Anglican, UK, will act as the facilitator and jointly chair the concluding part of the plenary. The meeting will also see an Ethiopian lunch being served as part of the consultation.
