Jerusalem- Holy Land: Haaretz reports that Irenaios I – the former Patriarch of Jerusalem has returned to his home town in Greece.

Unfortunately, the former Primate of the Jerusalem Church was involved in ‘land dealing’ controversy. He was ousted upon allegations and was confined to solitude living in a monks cell near the Patriarchate for many years. Later, he reconciled with the current Patriarch Theophilos I of Jerusalem.

In a recent move, Irenaios was reinstated by the Patriarchate of Jerusalem as the ‘Former Primate’ of the Church as part of the reconciliation process.
