FIRST STASIS OF THE SALUTATIONS TO THEOTOKOS IN THE CHURCH OF THE RESURRECTION

On Friday, the 14th/27th of February 2015, at 5.15 pm, the Canon of the Akathist Hymn was sung in the Katholikon of the Church of the Resurrection, followed by a reading of the First Stasis of the Salutations to the Most Holy Theotokos.

His Beatitude Theophilos, Patriarch of Jerusalem, led this magnificent and mystical service. He was accompanied by the Elder Secretary-General, Archbishop Aristarchos of Constantina, Archbishop Demetrios of Lydda, Archimandrite Keladion, the Master of Ceremonies, Archimandrite Porphyrios, the Assistant Dragoman, Archimandrite Bartholomew and other Hagiotaphite Fathers. Concelebrating with them was the Greek Consul-General to Jerusalem, Mr Georgios Zacharoudiakis and his associates.

The Patriarch diligently read the First Stasis of the Salutations, and went on to preach the Word of God to a pious congregation of monks, nuns and pilgrims.

The service was broadcast live from the Patriarchate’s Radio Station.

The service of the Salutations was also held at the Monastery of the Prophet Elias, which stands between Jerusalem and Bethlehem, led by the Patriarchal Commissioner, Metropolitan Isychios of Kapitolias, and in all Patriarchal churches.
