First day of the Syriac Patriarchal visit to Malankara

India/Kerala: Seventh February 2015 marked the first day of Apostolic visit of His Holiness Ignatius Aphrem II- Patriarch on the Apostolic Throne of St Peter in Antioch and All East. The Patriarch was given a warm welcome at the Cochin International Airport. His BeatitudeAbune Baselios Thomas I – Catholicos and Metropolitan Trustee of the Church in India, Kerala Cheif Minister Shri Oomen Chandy and Metropolitan’s of the Church along with other dignitaries received the Patriarch and Syriac Orthodox delegations.
The Patriarch met with several delegations form different walks of life. Press conference was held and interviews were given to several leading media. The Primate also addressed Syriac Orthodox faithful in Malankara at the Church headquarters in Puthenkurish. Patriarch also presided over the historic fisrt synod at Karigachira.
