Festival of Children’s Creative Art “Children in Lavra” Held in Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra

On May 29, on the occasion of the Children’s Protection Day in the territory of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra with the blessing of His Beatitude Metropolitan Volodymyr the Second Festival of Children’s Creative Art “Children in Lavra” was held, organized by the international charitable foundation “Sonyashnyk” together with creative association “Detvora”.
Second year at a run by the walls of the Holy Dormition Cathedral of Lavra a makeshift scene is arranged for the young artists’ performance. This year more that 150 participants were involved, giving performance for children-orphans, handicapped children, pupils of the Sunday schools of Kyiv and region.
When all the creative teams gathered – the Primate visited the children. He addressed them with a word of admonition:
“The Church always remembers its children and is anxious about them, especially of the smallest ones. Be happy and grow wise”, said Metropolitan Volodymyr at the end.
His Beatitude marked one of the holiday organizers – president of the International charitable foundation “Sonyashnyk” Alla Horbunova with the order of the Pochayiv icon of the Mother of God, and distributed presents – souvenirs and sweets – between the children.
Apart from the concert, on the festival program there were excursion tours of the Lavra, conducted by the students of the Kyiv Theological Schools for all those willing.
