Ethiopia Investigates Sexual Violence in Tigray

Addis Ababa – Ethiopia: The Ethiopian government has initiated a task force to investigate the allegations of sexual violence in Tigray according to FANA, the Ethiopian Fana Broadcasting Corporate. The announcement was made by Filsan Abdullahi, Minister of Ministry of Women, Children and Youth Affairs (MoWCYA).

The task force consists of members from the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Women, Children and Youth Affairs (MoWCYA), the Ministry of Defence, and the Federal Attorney General. The task force has already reached Mekelle to start the investigation.

On the 24th of January, OCP Media Network published a special report by Dr. Romina Istratii titled “Sexual Violence in Tigray: Another War Waged on the “Bodies” of Women and Girls?” citing the abuse of women and girls in the Tigray region.
