“Divine Providence has a future, and potential and Resurrection for us in store, not the end, and damage and loss”, said Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew from his homeland, Imvros.

The Ecumenical Patriarch publicly commented on the news regarding the pending re-opening of a minority primary school in Imvros, closed for almost half a century, after a relevant permit granted by the Turkish Ministry of Education.

“You can see that reparation of injustices is slowly approaching, our vindication”, said the Ecumenical Patriarch, addressing the faithful at the Cathedral of the Assumption of Virgin Mary in Imvros.

The Patriarch urged parents to enroll their children in the new minority school, stressing how significant the re-opening of the school is even with one, or a few students attending.

Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, among other things, also thanked Mr. Tayyip Erdogan’s government and the Ministry of Education for the decision to re-open the school on the island. He also thanked all parties who contributed to this, such as the Ministry of European Affairs, and the representative of non-Muslim foundations at the Council of the General Assembly of the Directorate General for Foundations, Mr. Lakis Vingas, who “watched over our case with care and interest”.
