Dean for Monasteries of the Kyiv Diocese became Bishop of Brovary

On January 6, on the eve of the Nativity of Christ His Beatitude Metropolitan Volodymyr celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Refectory (Sts Anthony and Theodosius) Church of the Kyiv Lavra of Caves.

Concelebrating to him were Archbishop Mykolai of Bilogorodka, Archbishop Pavel of Vyshgorod, Archbishop Anthony of Boryspil, Archbishop Alexander of Pereyaslav-Khmelnytskyy (Secretary for the UOC Primate), Bishop Ilariy of Makariv, Bishop panteleimon of Vasylkiv, Bishop Filaret of Drohobych, brethren clergy and deputy abbots of the monasteries of the Diocese of Kyiv.

In the course of the service the host of bishops consecrated to episcopacy the Dean for monasteries of the Kyiv Diocese archimandrite Feodosiy (Snihiriov). In compliance with the decision of the Holy Synod of the UOC held under the chairmanship of His Beatitude Volodymyr , Metropolitan of Kyiv and All Ukraine of December 23, 2010, the newly consecrated bishop will be titled “of Brovary” (Journal 44).

After the service His Beatitude Metropolitan Volodymyr addressed the ordained bishop with a word of exhortation and handed him the bishop’s crosier, following which Bishop Theodosius blessed the worshippers.

The evening before, at the session hall of the Holy Synod of the UOC at the Primate’s residence of the Kyiv Caves Monastery the nomination of archimandrite Theodosius (Snihiriov) as bishop of Brovary was held.

Bishop Feodosiy was born in 1974 in Kyiv. In 1998 he graduated the Theological Seminary of Kaluga and in 2003 from Kyiv Theological Academy. In 1998 he was tonsured monk with the name of Feodosiy in honor of the Venerable Theodosius, hegumen of the Kyiv Caves, and later was ordained hierodeacon and hieromonk. The same year he was enlisted among the brethren of the Monastery of the Nativity of the Theotokos of St Pafnutius in Borovsk. In 2001 he was appointed Dean for Monasteries of the Kyiv Diocese.
