Damascus, (SANA) – Bishops of Damascus congratulated Muslims in Syria and worldwide on the arrival of the holy Month of Ramadan, wishing them many happy returns.

In a statement on Wednesday, the bishops said that ”At the beginning of this holy month, we’d like to emphasize the long mutual history with our Muslim brothers in all countries of the region, especially in our beloved Syria that has brought together all Syrians since the dawn of history.”

”We, Muslims and Christians alike, have built the civilization of this beloved country, and will continue the hold on side by side to the heritage of forefathers …We will not allow anyone to come between us,” added the statement.

”It is heart-rending for us that this holy month arrives as some dark clouds linger over Syria, but our faith in God and the Syrian Arab army will dispel these clouds,” the bishops said.

The bishops prayed to God for peace and security to prevail in Syria and for the release of the two bishops abducted in Aleppo.
