Damascus bishops congratulate Muslims on Ramadan

Damascus, (SANA) – Bishops of Damascus congratulated Muslims in Syria and worldwide on the arrival of the holy Month of Ramadan, wishing them many happy returns.
In a statement on Wednesday, the bishops said that ”At the beginning of this holy month, we’d like to emphasize the long mutual history with our Muslim brothers in all countries of the region, especially in our beloved Syria that has brought together all Syrians since the dawn of history.”
”We, Muslims and Christians alike, have built the civilization of this beloved country, and will continue the hold on side by side to the heritage of forefathers …We will not allow anyone to come between us,” added the statement.
”It is heart-rending for us that this holy month arrives as some dark clouds linger over Syria, but our faith in God and the Syrian Arab army will dispel these clouds,” the bishops said.
The bishops prayed to God for peace and security to prevail in Syria and for the release of the two bishops abducted in Aleppo.
Prayer for peace in Syria at Church of the Resurrection
Archbishop of Sevastia of the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Jerusalem, Metropolitan Attallah Hanna led a religious mass on Wednesday at the Church of the Resurrection for peace, security and stability in Syria.
Hanna also prayed for the release of the two abducted Bishops of Aleppo, Yohana Ibrahim and Paul Yazaji, and all the abducted, the oppressed and the bereaved.
Special prayers were performed for the repose of the martyrs’ souls in Syria, Palestine and the Arab world.
