Constitutive Meeting of the Romanian Church National Assembly

On 29 September 2014, the constitutive meeting of the Church National Assembly of the Romanian Orthodox Church for the period 2014 – 2018 was held in Bucharest, under the chairmanship of His Beatitude Daniel, Patriarch of Romania.
“The Church National Assembly is a central deliberative body of the Romanian Orthodox Church for administrative, social, cultural, economical and patrimonial issues. It adopts general measures for supporting the cultural, social philanthropic, economical and foundational issues of the Church. It establishes means of aiding the church central bodies and institutions. The activity of this assembly is very important during a four years long mandate which can be extended to only one more mandate”, the Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church explained, according to Trinitas Radio station.
Today, the members of the Church National Council – central executive body of the Holy Synod and of the Church National Assembly – were also elected. The Council consists of one clergy and one laic for each metropolitanate of the country, appointed for 4 years time.
