Consecration and enthronement of Bishop Heruvim of Osijek-Polje and Baranja

On the day when our Holy Church prayerfully celebrated Venerable Nikita the Confessor, 10 June 2018, His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch, celebrated the Holy Hierarchal Liturgy at the Cathedral church of Holy Great Martyr Demetrius in Dalj, Croatia. During the service His Holiness performed the consecration and introduced of Bishop Heruvim of Osijek-Polje and Baranja,  former abbot of the monastery of the Dormition of the Most Holy Mother of God.

The Primate of the Serbian Orthodox Church was concelebrated by Their Eminences Metropolitans Amfilohije of Montenegro and the Littoral and Porfirije of Zagreb-Ljubljana; Their Graces Bishops: Lukijan of Budim, Irinej of Backa – Administrator of the Diocese of Osijek-Polje and Baranja; Pahomije of Vranje, Jovan of Sumadija, Ignjatije of Branicevo, Fotije of Zvornik-Tuzla, Gerasim of Gornji Karlovac, Jovan of Slavonia, Ignjatije of Branicevo, Fotije of Zvornik-Tuzla, Gerasim of Gornji Karlovac, Jovan of Slavonia, Sergije of Bihac-Petrovac and Nikodim of Dalmatia; archimandrites, elected Bishops: Isihije of Mohac, Dimitrije of Zachum-Herzegovina, Stefan of Remesiana and Metodije of Dioclea.

Besides friends and relatives of the Bishop Heruvim, a great number of faithful from the Diocese of Osijek-Polje and Baranja, Dalmatia, Backa and the region, this Eucharistic gathering was attended also by: envoy of the President of the Republic of Serbia Mr. Nikola Selakovic, Consul General of the Republic of Serbia to Vukovar Mr. Milan Sapic; Assistant Director of the Office for Cooperation with Churches and Religious Communities of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Serbia Dr. Marko Nikolic; Roman Catholic Archbishop of Djakovica-Osijek Djuro Hranic, Roman Catholic Bishop of Pozega Antun Skvorcevic; Director of the Department of the Government of the Republic of Croatia for cooperation with religious communities Mr. Sime Jercic; members of the Croatian Parliament Dr. Milorad Pupovac and Mrs. Dragana Jeckov; President of the Joint council of municipalities Mr. Srdjan Jeremic, as well as by other distinguished peersonalities from public and cultural life from the region.

During the solemn Liturgy the consecration of Archimandrite Heruvim to the rank of Bishop was performed. At the end of the Eucharistic service the enthronement – introduction of Bishop Heruvim into the throne of Bishops of Osijek-Polje and Baranja took place.
