Chairman of the “Free Democrats” political party meets with the representatives of the Armenian community in Georgia

On February 1, 2015 the Chairman of the “Free Democrats” political party Irakli Alasania met with the representatives of the Armenian community in Georgia at the “Hayartun” Center’s Calouste Gulbenkian Hall. The meeting was organized within the framework of the “Political participation through dialogue” project with the support of the “Open Society – Georgia” Foundation under the topic “Georgia and Armenia in the South Caucasus region”. The purpose of this project on the one hand is to provide truthful information regarding the ongoing political processes through political leaders to Georgian citizens of Armenian origin, and on the other hand using such dialogues to keep Georgian politicians informed on main concerns and problems of the community. This can be fulfilled through the conduction of such kind of meeting-discussions with the participation of Georgian political scientists, public figures and the representatives of Georgia’s Diplomatic corps.

During the meeting Irakli Alasania spoke about the roles of Georgia and Armenia in the South Caucasus region, the challenges both countries have to face and about the progress opportunities. Then he answered the questions of the audience.

At the end of the meeting the Chairman of the “Free Democrats” political party and persons accompanying him took a short tour in the “Hayartun” Cultural and Education center, acquainted with the works of the center’s creative groups and praised highly wide activity of the center.
