Catholicos of All Armenians to visit the Vatican
On April 10, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, will visit the Vatican on a fraternal visit, at the invitation of Pope Francis of the Roman Catholic Church.
On April 11, His Holiness will visit the city of Naples, where he will participate in the reopening of the Chapel of St. Gregory the Armenian, and blessing of a Khatchkar, dedicated to the 100th Anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.
On April 12, His Holiness will attend a special Mass being celebrated in St. Peter’s Basilica by Pope Francis, in commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.
During the visit, the Catholicos of All Armenians will be accompanied by Archbishop Khajag Barsamyan, Primate of the Eastern Diocese of the Armenian Church of North America; Bishop Arakel Karamyan, Primate of the Kotayk Diocese; Bishop Movses Movsisian, Primate of the Diocese of Southern Russia of the Armenian Church; Bishop Ashot Mnatsakanyan, Primate of the Armenian Diocese of Egypt; Bishop Armash Nalbandian, Primate of the Armenian Diocese of Damascus; Bishop Hovakim Manukyan, Director of the Inter Church Relations Department of the Mother See; Bishop Vahan Hovhannisyan, Primate of the Armenian Diocese of France; Bishop Gevork Saroyan, Dean of the Gevorkian Theological Seminary and Rector of the Theological Educational Institutions of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin; Rev. Fr. Anania Tsaturyan, Staff-Bearer of His Holiness Karekin II, and Rev. Fr. Vahram Melikyan, Director of Information Services Department of the Mother See and Spokesman for His Holiness Karekin II.
Many pilgrims from the worldwide Armenian Dioceses will also participate in the Holy Mass, led by their Diocesan Primates.
