Carollers at the Patriarchal Palace

Romanian Church

On 20th December 2010, 18.00 hours, His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel received a few groups of carollers in “Europa Christiana” room of the Patriarchal Palace.

The first group, made up of 12 persons, was co-ordinated by Rev. Florentin Moldovan, from Perişor Parish, Chiuza commune, county of Bistriţa-Năsăud. The second group was made up of several students of “Mihai Botez” 87 School of Bucharest, co-ordinated by teacher Daniela Bunea and by Prof. Maria Bocşa-Mălin.

At 19.00 hours, the group of carollers entitled “Datina românească” (Romanian Custom) of the “Tradiţia Românească” (Romanian Tradition) Association of Bucharest, co-ordinated by Rev. Vladimir Alexa carolled the Patriarch of Romania.

After singing the traditional carols, all the carollers were blessed and received presents on behalf of the Primate of the Romanian Orthodox Church.

“It is a great joy for us to observe the Romanian tradition with its spiritual richness and be aware today that “our forerunners sang the holy good carol in chorus, as in their time old Santa Claus was too”. Carols are a liturgy of the Romanian spirituality in all generations, throughout the centuries. So, we bring joy in houses, and especially to children, and glorify God for the blessing He gave and continues to give us through the greatest gifts of God-the-Father, namely sending His eternal Son, Jesus Christ, to the world to save all people”, said His Beatitude.
