Bulgarian Orthodox Church observes St. John of Rila Day
Sofia. The Bulgarian Orthodox Church observes the day of Saint John of Rila, which falls on October 19 every year.
St. John of Rila is the founder of the UNESCO-protected Rila Monastery in the Rila mountain range, Southern Bulgaria. He is also deemed patron of the Bulgarian people. Church services will be held in all eparchies across the country.
