Bulgarian Orthodox Church Celebrates the 143rd Anniversary of the Liberation of Sofia

Sofia- Bulgaria: The Bulgarian Orthodox Church celebrated the 143rd anniversary of its Liberation of  Sofia on the 4th January 2021. The city was liberated from the Ottoman yoke on January 4, 1878, by Russian troops under the command of Field Marshal Iosif Vladimirovich Romeyko-Gurko.

Worship was presided by His Eminence Polycarp, the Bishop of Belogradchik and vicar of the Metropolitan of Sofia. A large number of Priests, representatives of the government authorities, and citizens gathered for prayers at the Metropolitan Cathedral of St. Vmchtsa Nedelya.
