Brahmavar Orthodox Konkani Community (B.O.K.C)- UAE Celebrates Annual Day

UAE/Dubai: Brahmavar Orthodox Konkani Community of UAE celebrated its annual day at Tulip Creek Hotel Apartments, Dubai on 2nd December 2012.

Coinciding with the 41st National day of UAE, the B.O.K.C celebrated its 2nd annual day. The function started in the morning with prayer lead by Rev. Fr. V.C. Jose, Vicar, St. George Orthodox Cathedral Abu Dhabi. Mr. Stanly Banz Vice President of B.O.K.C, welcomed Rev. Fr. V.C. Jose, President of the Programme and Vicar- St. George Orthodox Cathedral Abu Dhabi, Chief Guest Mr. K.E. Thomas, Secretary of St. George Orthodox Cathedral Abu Dhabi, Guest of Honors – The Managing Committee Members of the Indian Malankara Orthodox Church, Mr. I. Thomas and Mr. John Samuel, Brahmavar Diocesan Council member Mr. Reji C.U, Senior Member of BOKC Mr. Thomas Suares and all members of the BOKC for the programme. Welcome Song was sung by Elvita, Laveena, Stephan D’Souza and Stephan Suares. Mr. Selvin Lewis presented the Annual Report. Rev. Fr. V.C. Jose inaugurated the function by lighting the Lamp. Mr. Thomas suares gave a brief introduction of B.O.K.C. The Chief Guest Mr. K.E. Thomas Congratulated the Brahmavar Orthodox Konkani Community for uniting in UAE and urged to lead a true Christian life. Mr. I Thomas and Mr. John Samuel and Mr. Reji C.U. Congratulated the B.O.K.C and assured all possible support from the Church and from the Diocese. The President of B.O.K.C and the Brahmavar Diocesan Metropolitan His Grace Yakob Mar Elias in their message sent blessings to the Vice President, Office bearers and all the members of B.O.K.C and said that they are happy to know the B.O.K.C is celebrating its 2nd annual day and further they are proud of Konkani Community‘s loyalty and Zeal towards the orthodox church which is holy, universal and apostolic. His Grace blessed the community to keep the Orthodox track to lead a life of repentance, holiness, perfection, love and mercy befitting the Christian call. The President of the programme Rev. Fr. V.C. Jose in his presidential address congratulated the B.O.K.C and also congratulated the UAE on its 41st National day and thanked the Rulers of the Country for their generosity and benevolence and assured his full support and co operation to the B.O.K.C. Later Raffle draw was conducted and the morning session of the programme was concluded and Mr. Selvin Lewis Proposed the Vote of thanks. Traditional lunch was served to the guests and all the participants.

The 2nd session of the programme started at 3:00 P.M. The outgoing founder Vice President Mr. Stanly Banz and Secretary Mr. Selvin Lewis were honored by incoming Vice President Mr. Rufus Lewis and incoming Secretary Mr. Stephan D’Souza. Mr. Stanly Banz thanked each and every member for their support and co operation extended to him and his team for the last two years in their tenure and urged to extend the same support and co operation to the new office bearers. Thereafter started the fun filled entertainment programs of Singing, Dances, Skits, funny games and Baila Dance by the members. The audience was on their toes. All the members enjoyed the day long programme by enjoying every moment of it to be remembered throughout the year. Prayer song was sung by all the participants to conclude the programme.
