Book about Armenian churches introduced in St. Petersburg

ST. PETERSDBURG, DECEMBER 10, ARMENPRESS. Illustrated book entitled “The Armenian Churches through Centuries” has been introduced to the public in “Vernatun” Spiritual-Cultural Centre of St. Catharine Cathedral of the Armenian Apostolic Church in St. Petersburg. Boris Baratov, filmmaker and photographer living in Moscow, is the author of the book.

As reports “Armenpress” small and large churches in Armenia and Artsakh have been enclosed in the book. The reader can find brief comments regarding each church. A number of exquisite examples of the Armenian ecclesiastic architect are depicted in the high quality pictures.

“The Armenian Churches through Centuries” is a unique encyclopedia, which introduces the history of the Armenian Church, its traditions, spread of Christianity in Armenia, church’s struggle against foreign conquerors, books and literature and spiritual values. It took 12 years from the author to complete the book. The idea of the book was conceived after the author’s visit to Jerusalem.
