Beirut march to mark Armenian genocide

The Daily Star – 18/4/13

BEIRUT: A committee organizing events to commemorate the 98th anniversary of  the Armenian genocide said a march will take place next week in Downtown  Beirut.

“This march aims to reject Turkey’s policy of denial at international forums  and to demand that justice be served and the necessary steps to compensate  Armenians for the human and psychological losses they suffered,” a statement  from the committee said.

The gathering will begin April 24 at the Armenian Orthodox Catholicosate in  Antelias, where prayers will be held for the victims of the genocide, and a  wreath will be laid at the mausoleum garden.

The march will begin at noon at the municipality square in Burj Hammoud and  will conclude in Martyrs’ Square in Downtown Beirut.
