Damascus-Syria: Assyrians (Syrian Christians) celebrated Divine Liturgy at the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in the Syrian city of Zabadani for the first time since 2015.

This Church was heavily damaged by the so-called “moderate rebels.” The Assyrians had long begun the restoration work, restoring their Church in best possible manner. Rest of the restoration works are under way.

Al-Zabadani is a popular hill station and city in South Western Syria, which is close to the Lebanese border. It was occupied by the rebels and was badly damaged during the ‘Battle of Zabadani’. As a result of the peace deal signed, the control of the city was transferred back to the Syrian Government control in 2017.
