Berlin: A presentation entitled Asian Christianity and its Interaction with Asian Religious Traditions was held at Westphalian Wilhelm University (W.W.U.), Münster, Germany on the 25th of September 2014 at the Conference for Intensive Study Programme (I.S.P)- European Summer School – Christianity in Asia.
The presentation was coordinated by Mr. Daniel Huthmacher. The Professor at head of the program was Dr. Norbert Hintersteiner
The Presentation
The study undertaken by Maria was focused on the relations between Christianity and other religions such as Buddhism, Hinduism, Confucianism and Taoism. She focalized on the traditions and the perceptions of religions and analyzed their similarities and differences with Christianity. Furthermore, she unfolded the survival of Christianity in Asian countries. The goal of her research was to accentuate the efforts undertaken for the coexistence and reconciliation of religions (as it is attempted by the World Council of Churches) and to highlight the efforts for dialogue which is a key factor for the amelioration of their relations.
The vast majority of her bibliography is covered by books found in the Library of the Faculty of Theology of AUTH. Moreover, she worked on texts and articles pointed to her by Mr. George Alexander (OCP Secretary).
Mari Sereti- Bio
Maria Sereti was born in Serres in 1989 and lives in Thessaloniki, Greece. She concluded her undergraduate studies in the School of Theology, Faculty of Theology of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH) in 2011. In 2012 she was enrolled at the Postgraduate Program of the School of Theology with specialization in Ecumenical Theology. Her research is focused on ecumenical, dogmatic, biblical and sociological issues. Currently, she is writing her graduate paper centered on peace and social justice. She speaks Greek, English and French, she has obtained an ECDL certificate of computer literacy and also learn the evolution of handwriting (paleography) and hagiography . She has participated in numerous conferences in Greece and other European Countries.
