Armenian Pontiff Receives Foreign Minister of Austria
Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin
On June 25, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, received Michael Spindelegger, Foreign Minister of Austria, and his delegation, in the headquarters of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin.
Welcoming the delegation to the center of Armenian Spiritual life, His Holiness noted that the Minister’s visit was a witness to the close relationship between the two nations and countries. The Pontiff of All Armenians expressed his appreciation to Minister Spindelegger for the care shown by the Austrian authorities towards the Armenian community of Austria. His Holiness stressed that the Armenian community of Austria would facilitate further development of relations between the two countries.
During the meeting His Holiness and the Foreign Minister spoke about the condition of the Armenian Apostolic Church during the Soviet years, during the last 20 years of independence, as well as the current activities of the Church in the educational and social spheres.
