Kampala-Uganda: Archbishop Makarios of Kenya has been named as the caretaker of the Orthodox Church of Uganda following the demise of Metropolitan Yonna Lwanga. Archbishop Makarios will arrive in Uganda on the 8th of September to assume charge of the temporary care taker of the Church. Makarios serves as the Archbishop of Nairobi since 2001.

Metropolitan Jonah Lwanga of Kampala and All Uganda passed away on the 5th of September 2021 at the age of 76 in Athens, Greece. The funeral arrangements of the late Bishop will be announced sooner or later.
