Anniversary Of 60 Years Of Life Of The Patriarch Of Romania On The Joy Hill

His Beatitude Daniel, Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church celebrates today, 22 July 2011, the anniversary of 60 years of life.

On the occasion of this anniversary event, at 8.00 o’clock in the morning, the Patriarch of Romania consecrated the painting and altar screen recently renovated in the historical chapel of the Patriarchal Residence dedicated to “Saint Great Martyr George, Saint Prophet Daniel and Pious Parascheva”.

Then, His Grace Ciprian Campineanul, Assistant Bishop to the Patriarch, celebrated the Te Deum service at 11.00 o’clock, in the Patriarchal Cathedral of Bucharest, assisted by a group of priests and deacons, in the presence of His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel, and of the members of the Holy Synod of the Romanian Orthodox Church.

To end with the Te Deum, His Eminence Laurentiu, Metropolitan of Transylvania addressed a brotherly message to His Beatitude Daniel, Patriarch of Romania, and offered His Beatitude an icon of the Holy Trinity on behalf of all the members of the Holy Synod of the Romanian Orthodox Church.

Further on, the Primate of the Romanian Orthodox Church delivered a thanksgiving message.

“Today we thanked God for the gift of life and for the gifts that He gives to every human being as well as for the help received from God, from the Holy Trinity, so that the gifts received should be fruitful”, said the Primate of the Romanian Orthodox Church.

His Grace Ciprian Campineanul, Assistant Bishop to the Patriarch and Secretary of the Holy Synod, read the “Anniversary Document” of the Standing Meetings of the Church National Council and of the Eparchial Council of the Archdiocese of Bucharest, printed on parchment, and offered a walking staff to the Patriarch of Romania, the visible insignia of his investment by God with the power to lead the Romanian Orthodox Church.

His Eminence Pavlos, Metropolitan of Drama and Exarch of Macedonia conveyed His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel a message on behalf of the Orthodox Church of Greece and offered His Beatitude Daniel a particle of the relics of Saint Pious George the Confessor, and an icon of Saint Pious George.

“We want to leave a proof of our appreciation on the occasion of our visit here, so that our gift has a spiritual significance too, as long as you are the spiritual leader of the Romanian people and one of the important Patriarchs of the Eastern Orthodox Church. We are glad to offer you a particle of the holy relics of Saint Pious George the Confessor, who passed away in Drama, in 1909, a very popular saint in Greece”, said His Eminence.

Then, at 12.00 o’clock a festive ceremony took place in “Patriarch Teoctist” Aula Magna of the Patriarchal Palace in the honour of His Beatitude Daniel, Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church. The event began with the lecture of the festive messages addressed to His Beatitude. Then, His Grace Ciprian Campineanul, Assistant Bishop to the Patriarch read the message of His Holiness Bartholomew, Ecumenical Patriarch; State Counsellor Gheorghe Anghelescu read the message of the President of Romania, Mr. Traian Basescu; Mr. Mircea Geoana, President of the Senate of Romania, addressed a message of congratulation to the Primate of the Romanian Orthodox Church; there followed the message of the Prime Minister of Romania, Mr. Emil Boc read by Mr. Adrian Lemeni, State Secretary for Religious Affairs; Academician Ionel Haiduc, President of the Romanian Academy has also addressed a message of congratulation; Mr. Ioan Panzaru, Rector of the University of Bucharest addressed a congratulation to His Beatitude on the occasion of the event.

The event continued with the launch of the anniversary album entitled “Working for the Edification of the Church” published by Basilica publishing house of the Romanian Patriarchate, and presented by His Grace Varlam Ploiesteanul, Assistant Bishop to the Patriarch.

There followed the launching of the homage volume “Euharistirion to Patriarch Daniel of Romania”, published by Basilica publishing and presented by Mr. Academician Prof. Emilian Popescu.

On the occasion of this special moment in the life of the Romanian Orthodox Church the documentary entitled “Achievement in Service” made by Trinitas Television of the Romanian Patriarchate was presented.

Finally, His Beatitude Daniel, Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church delivered a blessing speech.
