An Annunciation Action of the Orthodox Church Charity

Church of Serbia – 13/4/2020

At the beginning of the Sixth Week of Lent, on the eve of the Feast of the Annunciation, the Serbian Orthodox Church Charity organized another charitable action within a series of actions to support the users of the Church Soup Kitchen.

Since the start of the emergency, about two thousand users of the Church Soup Kitchen have been receiving packages of food, canned food, and personal hygiene products, submitted to them every Monday. Young Serbian Orthodox Church Charity volunteers packed up packages that were divided into five points of the Church soup kitchen. In addition, drivers drove packages throughout the week to all those who were prevented from coming for them, i. e. the elderly, the sick and all the families with many kids supported by the Charity with modest assistance.

We need to point out a truly noble example of affection and a great help in the form of six thousand canned meals ($ 3,000) which the Agency received from the Chicago-based Lifeline organization operating in Serbia under the auspices of Her Royal Highness Princess Katherine Karadjordjevic. We would like to thank to all the Serbs in Chicago who donate their funds to support the activities of the organization, and to its employees for helping the poorest people of Serbia according to that Gospel’s words, “do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing”.
