Hungarian Government Decorates Bishop Irinej of Backa With the Order of Merit

Belgrade-Serbia: Bishop Irinej of Backa was decorated with the Hungarian order for historical reconciliation of the two peoples on the 28th of September 2021 at the Serbian Patriarchal residence in Belgrade.
The role of Bishop Irinej Bulovic in the historical reconciliation of the Hungarian and Serbian people and his work on the promotion of interfaith dialogue have significantly contributed to the strengthening of trust and the development of relations between the two peoples,” stated President of Hungary János Áder in his letter.
Zsolt Semjén, the Deputy Prime Minister of Hungary on behalf of János Áder, the President of Hungary presented Commander’s Cross of the Order of Merit to Bishop Irinej of Backa.
The ceremony was attended by Patriarch Porfirije of Serbia, Bishops and other dignitaries.
