Sruti Orthodox Liturgical School presents first ever Spiritual Harmonic Orchestra in India

India/Kerala/Kottayam: Sruti School of Liturgical Music of the Indian Orthodox Malankara Church presented the first ever Spiritual Harmonic Orchestra in India. The historic event titled ‘Sumoro 2015’ was held at the Windsor Convention Centre at Kottayam. It was held as part of the 200th anniversary of Old Seminary and 25th anniversary of the Sruti Liturgical School.

The music nigh was led by Fr M P George – (Director of Sruti School). The Orchestra team consisted of hundred and forty musicians. The Sumoro event was combination of the Indian ragas, melody of the western music and richness of Middle Eastern music. Even though such events have taken place in Metropolitan Cities like Mumbai and Delhi, this is the first of its kind in Kerala.

The event was blessed by His Holiness Baselios Paulose II ( Catholicos of the East on the Apostolic Throne of St Thomas & Metropolitan of Malankara). K J Yeudas and K S Chitra; legends of Indian music were part of the gathering. They were given special honor by the Primate of the Church of India.
