Kerala: One of the founders and chief delegate of The Carmel Apologetics Trust Mr Aswin Manuel received OCP Society delegation on 23rd Sunday, November 2014 at his private residence in Kottayam district of Kerala.
Carmel Apologetics is a pan-orthodox trust formed to defend ancient orthodox and apostolic teachings of Christ and Orthodox Church fathers. This is the first of its kind formed in Kerala and it is a joint independent initiative of a group of faithful belonging to Syriac Orthodox Church in India and the Indian Malankara Orthodox Church. The trust is into charity works as well.
The Carmel Apologetics website has attracted huge readership. The website promotes ancient orthodox teachings of Christ and his apostles and has provided strong responses to the criticism raised by various pentecostal, protestant, and charismatic groups. The trust has pioneered in producing apologetic literature in the South Indian language of Malayalam. They have also made literature in English.
Aswin explained the working method of the trust in detail. The Trust has been successful in implementing house visits to various Protestant denominations preaching Orthodox faith and traditions. They have retained several Orthodox faithful who were on the verge of converting to various Pentecostal groups. Activities of the trust have earned supported from the Roman Catholic Church in Kerala.
Both parties also discussed on various methods of extending coöperation between OCP Society and the Carmel Apologetics Trust for the common good of pan-orthodoxy. George Alexander (Secretary and Spokesperson of OCP Society) congratulated Aswin and his team for the unique programme and praised the pan-orthodox nature and commitment of the trust. He also stressed the need for extended coöperation between the two ancient Oriental Orthodox Churches in Malankara.
The OCP Delegation included George Alexander (Secretary), Ajesh Philip (Delegate of Indian Sub Continent and Chief Project Coordinator – MARP) and Vipin Varghese (Director – Dept. of Public Relations).
As a token of love OCP delegation presented Mr Aswin with an icon of St Gregory of Parumala and a copy of the new OCP pan-orthodox publication titled ‘Collected Writings on Orthodox Christianity’.
