The New School Year Began at the Byzantine Music School

The Albanian Orthodox Church – October 2013

The Byzantine Music School opened its doors to new students for the second year on October 1st, when the church celebrates the three saints of the Psaltic Arts, St. John Koukouzeli from Durrës, St. Romano Melodios and St. Gregory Domestic. The school year began with the service of the Blessing of the Waters conducted by the Bishop of Amantia, Nathanael, with all of the teachers and students of the school and other clergy present. Upon completion of the service, the Bishop congratulated all the participants on behalf of Archbishop Anastasios, for “success and a blessed academic year.” The director of the school, Theodhor Peci, on behalf of the teaching staff and the students,  thanked His Grace Bishop Nathanael for his presence and for conveying the blessings, and congratulated and wished the students a blessed new year, creative and productive. Also, he announced that this year the Byzantine Music School will function in the afternoon, with two auditoriums and a complete curriculum, to enable the highest level of qualifications.

The choir of students of this school will be present during the services of Holy Worship at the “Resurrection of Christ” Cathedral in Tirana, emphasizing the role of the psalti during the services, which is essential and requires professionalism.
